What is a PUB?
First of all, it’s not a bar. It’s a pub. What kind of pub? It’s a family pub! Conversation-driven, authentic food, men, women, children, and dogs are always welcome.
The word Pub is short for public house. In England and Europe, you don’t have a house as we do in the USA. They are much smaller, you have an entry, a kitchen, a bathroom, and a place to sleep so you don’t entertain 40 friends at your house. You go to the public house and you meet your friends, your coworkers, your family members, and your friends from down the street.
It’s great quality food, hand prepared, authentic, and it’s a reasonable price so you’re not getting financially crushed. Pubs are attended for their warm atmosphere, of course, the weather in England is always like this, it’s 45 degrees and miserably, misty so you go to the pub, warm atmosphere, lots of friends, you have a pint, there’s a game on the telly, you know, and off you go.
At the Rampant Lion Pub, we carry on the tradition of the Public House (PUB). We are a family pub, conversation-driven, serving authentic Celtic recipes. Women, children, dogs are always welcome.
Almost all of our food is homemade/handmade, authentic British Celtic recipes. Our grocery stores are the same place where anybody else would buy their food, however… You can't go to the store and buy shepherd's pie, nor can you go to the store and buy Scotch eggs. You can't go to the store and buy steak and mushrooms. I mean, you can get fish and chips, but it's frozen pre breaded drop in the fryer. Frozen Food is definitely not what we serve at the Rampant Lion Pub. Our goal is to create as authentic an experience as possible, that all starts with authentic British Celtic recipes Our beer cheese is made with New Castle Brown Ale, our beer batter breading for our famous Fish and Chips is made from scratch generally made with Bass Ale from England. So it's, it's as authentic and fresh as it can be. Our close family friend, David Stead shared his father's recipe for Shepherds Pie. David’s father was a cook at King's College in Cambridge England when Prince Charles was a student there. David Stead's dad made shepherd's pie, for the man who is now Prince of England.
Dog Friendly You know, dogs are always welcome in both places, both inside and outside and we get a lot of people because of that. That's huge. And that's got listings of all the places that are supposedly pet friendly.
